At the California Gift Show in January of 2004, Kathleen Edman wanted to buy a copy of "Who You Callin'a Cheetah?" as a birthday present for a friend who owns a wildlife sanctuary for exotic animals that included a cheetah. When I heard that the friend was Tippi Hedren of The Birds and Marnie, I gave the book as a gift. Kathleen said that there was a birthday lunch for Tippi the next day and that Kim Novak was going to be there. Needless to say, Kim Novak got a book too.

One week later, I received this wonderful thank you note from Ms. Hedren:

Dear Lloyd,

You and your artist friend Michael Zittel must have more fun than should be allowed! Incredible off the wall sense of humour. Thank you for this enormous giggle.

So happy that my friend Kathleen Edman found you! My other friend Kim is delighted as well. Bravo!
Tippi Hedren

Lloyd - call our office to come visit on safari day. Make sure you introduce yourself to me.

And so, in February, I went to visit the Shambala Preserve. Ms. Hedren was more than gracious. Below are some pics from that day.

Everyone needs to visit the Shambala Preserve to see the great work that's being done so that these exotic animals live out their lives in dignity. For more information: www.shambala.org
